Newborn Session Information
- When to book your newborn session…
The best time to photograph newborn babies is when they are under two weeks of age, after two weeks babies are a little harder to settle and things like colic and baby acne can start to flare up. You can contact me at any time during your pregnancy to give me an estimated due date, I will then make a tentative booking and when you arrive home from hospital with your brand new baby you can contact me to arrange a suitable time and day for your session.
-Where your sessions held…
Your newborn session will take place in your home. If the weather is warm enough and you are comfortable with the idea, we can take the session outdoors.
-How long will your session take...
Newborn sessions can take 2-4 hours, allowing enough time for feeding and comforting.
I will bring everything you will need for your newborn session: newborn posing beanbag, background fabrics, hats, headbands, a basket or two, blankets, and wraps. Some props, that you see on my photographs belong to the babies. The picture will hold a different meaning if we utilize your hats, blankets, or other props you wanted to include in the picture.
Lifestyle portraits are a great way to capture the raw emotion of your early days with your baby. We focus on candid, unposed images which artistically show things just as they are - real moments frozen in time for you and your family to enjoy over and over. They can include shots of mum and dad, siblings, and even the family pet interacting with your baby.
Lifestyle sessions are photographed in your own home, and can feature your decorated nursery or your favourite places to unwind with your baby. They are ideal for fussy babies who have difficulty falling asleep, as well as for older babies who have passed the curled up, sleepy newborn stage. A typical lifestyle session lasts anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours.
Posed sessions may take a bit more time and patience than lifestyle, but it's well worth the work! With a bit of planning and cooperation from baby, posed sessions result in images that will undoubtedly be popular among family & friends. Soft blankets and coordinated wraps, hats, and headbands surround your little one while we capture him or her slumbering in doll-like poses. A typical posed session may last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, and will require mom and dad to follow all instructions.
These sessions give you a taste of both styles, with some candid images of your new family together in your home, combined with a mini posed session using a selection of portable studio equipment. Combo sessions may last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. Combo sessions are also a great idea if you really want to try for some posed photos but have a very fussy baby. This way, we can still get some fantastic candid photos if your baby just isn't interested in being posed.
