I photographed this beautiful mom and her baby for a motherhood session in my Santa Clarita studio.
At this age, babies have so much personality. They smile, look around, grab onto you, and react to everything you do. I wanted to photograph not only the two of them looking at the camera, but also the way they interact with each other.
We started with the black dress and gray background for a little more dramatic look. We did some standing portraits and then moved to the floor, where she could hold her baby close.

I photographed this adorable baby girl as a newborn, and now she was back in my studio for her first birthday session. One year later, she was standing, smiling, exploring, and showing so much personality.
We started her session with a cream crochet outfit from my studio wardrobe and a soft balloon setup in blush, ivory, and beige. I love starting first birthday sessions with regular milestone portraits before bringing out the cake. It gives us a chance to capture all those expressions and little details at this age.

One of the best parts of photographing families over the years is getting to see their family grow.

I first photographed baby Wesley for his newborn session, and then had the chance to photograph his first year, including his six-month and first birthday sessions. Now they are back, this time waiting for another little baby.

​For their maternity session, they wanted something outdoors and very family-oriented, not just traditional maternity portraits. We met at Pico Canyon Park in Santa Clarita about an hour and a half before sunset, when the light starts to become softer and warmer.

One of my favorite parts of Janet's maternity session was designing it specifically around her vision.
Before every session, I talk with my clients about the style they love, the colors they are drawn to, and the types of portraits they hope to have. Every pregnancy is different, and every family has a unique story, so I never believe in a one-size-fits-all maternity session.

I get to see Violet twice a year. Once for her birthday photos in my Santa Clarita studio, and again in the fall when I photograph her whole family.

For her third birthday, we kept her session very light and clean. A soft pink dress, white background, a few balloons, and plenty of room for Violet to be herself.

And she definitely did.

There is something so special about this season of waiting.

Life feels different during pregnancy. You’re preparing for someone you haven’t met yet, while already loving them more than you thought possible. You spend months imagining tiny fingers, little smiles, and what life will be like once they finally arrive.
And before everything changes, there is this season.

I recently photographed this beautiful maternity session in my Santa Clarita photo studio, and I loved how simple and natural it felt. We kept the focus on what truly mattered — this chapter in their lives and the connection they already share as they wait for their baby.

I’ve always believed maternity portraits do not need a lot of distractions. A simple background, beautiful light, and genuine moments often create the most meaningful images. Sometimes the smallest moments say the most — a hand resting on a growing belly, a smile between two people, or that look parents give each other when they realize their lives are about to change forever.

Soon these hands will be holding someone they’ve only dreamed about.

​These 12 images of this beautiful baby girl were carefully selected by her parents for final editing and retouching. One of the things that makes my newborn photography experience unique is that parents are thoughtfully involved throughout the entire process.

Six months is such a beautiful age to photograph — full of curiosity, soft rolls, and the sweetest little expressions. Ezra’s session was exactly that. His mom reached out to me specifically for his six-month milestone session, and she mentioned how much she had been looking forward to capturing this age. It made the session feel even more special.
