Outdoor Maternity Session at Pico Canyon Park

One of the best parts of photographing families over the years is getting to see their family grow.

I first photographed baby Wesley for his newborn session, and then had the chance to photograph his first year, including his six-month and first birthday sessions. Now they are back, this time waiting for another little baby.

​For their maternity session, they wanted something outdoors and very family-oriented, not just traditional maternity portraits. We met at Pico Canyon Park in Santa Clarita about an hour and a half before sunset, when the light starts to become softer and warmer.

We photographed a little bit of everything: maternity portraits, the whole family together, Wesley with his mom, the parents together, and plenty of moments where Wesley could simply move around and be himself.
I especially love maternity sessions like this because they document more than pregnancy. They capture what the family looks and feels like right before another little person becomes part of it.
And this story isn't finished yet. I can't wait to meet their new baby and photograph the newborn session next.
