Atlas Turns Two | Birthday Photography in Santa Clarita

I first photographed Atlas when he was a newborn. Then he came back to my Santa Clarita studio for his first birthday, and now I got to photograph him again for his second.

This time was a little different because Atlas shared his birthday session with his cousin.

At two years old, sitting still for photos isn’t exactly high on the priority list, so I kept the setup very open and gave him room to move around. We used a neutral background, a few wooden toys, and his little birthday hat. Some photos were sitting, some were standing, and some happened while he was right in the middle of moving on to the next thing.

We also photographed the two cousins together. Those ended up being some of my favorite photos from the session, especially the little kiss Atlas gave his cousin.

It’s interesting looking at these photos and thinking about the tiny newborn I photographed two years ago. By his first birthday he already had so much personality, and now at two, the session looks completely different again.
That’s one of my favorite parts about having families return to the studio. I don’t just get to photograph another birthday. I get to see how much a child has changed since the last time I saw them.
