Motherhood Photography Session in Santa Clarita

I photographed this beautiful mom and her baby for a motherhood session in my Santa Clarita studio.
At this age, babies have so much personality. They smile, look around, grab onto you, and react to everything you do. I wanted to photograph not only the two of them looking at the camera, but also the way they interact with each other.
We started with the black dress and gray background for a little more dramatic look. We did some standing portraits and then moved to the floor, where she could hold her baby close.

Then we changed to white for a completely different feel. We used a white shirt for a few relaxed black-and-white portraits and finished with the long white dress against a bright white background. I love the photo of her lifting her baby up because it really shows his personality at this age.

All of the dresses are from my studio wardrobe. I originally built my wardrobe for maternity sessions, but many of the pieces work beautifully for motherhood sessions too. Moms can choose their outfits at the studio, so there is no need to buy something just for the photos.

We take so many pictures of our babies, especially during their first year, but we aren't always in those pictures with them. That's one of the reasons I love motherhood sessions. Your baby gets beautiful portraits, but you also get photographs of the two of you together during a stage that changes very quickly.
