Blueberry picking is a perfect summer time adventure. Fresh ripe berries are amazing. If you have never been berry picking with your kids, blueberries are great way to start. The blueberry bushes are thornless, so little fingers will not cut up. They are tall enough that you won’t have to bend over to pick but they are also low enough that the children can reach plenty of blueberries for themselves. Also, it’s an inexpensive and fun activity that all ages can enjoy.
We had so much fun blueberry picking with Philip on Memorial Day weekend. The weather was beautiful and we went on an adventure in a local Underwood Family Farm in Somis. Before we started to pick berries, I taught Philip the difference between red, white and blue blueberries and that the blue once were the only once good for eating. I loved watching Philip picking blueberries from the bushes and the smiles on his faces. Somis 5696 Los Angeles Avenue Somis, CA 93066 (805) 386-4660 web: http://www.underwoodfamilyfarms.com
